Preparing for Birth and Feeding Your Baby

Join us for a 2-hour Preparing for Birth and Feeding Your Baby Class, led by a Labor & Delivery Nurse/Lactation Consultant and the Perinatal Outreach Education Coordinator.   Recommended for all first-time pregnant patients and their birth partners; this class is designed to provide you and your labor partner with the information, skills and resources to prepare you for the birth of your baby.

The class will be informal focusing on:

  • How do you know you’re in labor and when to call the doctor
  • Stages of Labor
  • Vaginal & Surgical Deliveries
  • Terminology
  • Comfort Measures
  • Equipment Review
  • Medications and Interventions
  • Feeding Your Baby
  • Watching Educational Videos
  • And More!

Light refreshments will be provided during class.  All participants are required to review self-screening questions for COVID-19 and remain masked during class.

Infant CPR for Parents, Grandparents and Older Siblings with Erin Olmstead

Join us for an infant CPR course to gain knowledge in how to perform CPR and choking rescue of an infant up to 1 year of age.  This course will be provided by in-person instructor, video and hands-on practice.  

Class is scheduled for an estimated 1 hour.   Any caregiver is welcome to join, parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, etc.

Postpartum Support Group

Join us at Stephens Memorial Hospital for a Postpartum Support Group. 

When: 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month starting June 13th from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM. 

Where: Ripley Medical Center - 193 Main Street, Norway ME 04268.  In the Harper Conference Room (we will have signs posted on how to get there.)

Who: Parents who have welcomed a new baby within the last 12 months.  You are welcome to bring your infant and partner!. 

Registrations: Help us get a sense of how many participants to expect and allows us to send important updates.  Drop ins are welcome.  Feel free to bring drinks, snacks and something comfortable to sit on like a blanket.

Safe Sitter

Safe Sitter Course is designed to prepare students ages 11-13 to be safe when they're home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. 

The Instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises.  Students even get to use manikins to practice rescue skills like choking rescue and CPR!

This nationally acclaimed program developed by Dr. Patricia Keener focuses on safety skills, child care skills, first aid & rescue skills, and life & business skills.  

Students are asked to pack a lunch, snacks and drinks will be provided.  All participants are required to review self-screening questions for COVID-19 and remain masked during class.
